Plant-based Biotechnology
In October 2004, the NDG convened a project team to examine issues associated with the release of plant-based biotechnologies. Participants include: Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Bayer CropScience, BIOCAP, the Canada Food Inspection Agency, the Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy, Pioneer Hi-Bred, Pollution Probe, SemBioSys, Dr. Stuart Smyth, Syngenta Crop Protection, and the United Church of Canada. The project team is debating the impacts of plant-based biotechnologies on agricultural sustainability as well as clarifying issues associated with the release of plant-based biotechnologies and identifying potential means of addressing those concerns.
