Business-NGO Relations

The NDG periodically organizes meetings and workshops for leaders of the business and NGO communities to further understanding of current sustainability issues. In the summer of 2006, a delegation from the NDG met with the executive team of a provincial environment agency to discuss innovative approaches to environmental protection in that province. In November 2004 and February 2005, delegations from the NDG met with the Deputy Minister and other senior officials from Environment Canada to discuss the design and implementation of the proposed Competitiveness and Environmental Sustainability Framework and Sector Sustainability Tables. In March 2004, and again in March 2006, representatives of businesses and NGOs, along with several government participants, attended NDG workshops in Vancouver to identify and debate topical sustainability issues, many of which have been incorporated into the NDG's current workplan.
